Who Is Your Child?

What Is Your Child Born to Do In This World?

Find out here

I strongly believe that the first responsibility of every parent is to help their children discover who they are and the reasons for their existence. When a parent is able to help his or her child unveil his/her purpose in life, it will provide great leverage for the child to move faster to become the best that he or she is created to be.

Some people think it takes a rocket science to be able to unveil and discover who our children truly are. Follow me in this short discourse and I will show you step by step guide on how to go about this.

The first thing I want you to know is that, deposited inside every child are between 600 – 700 gifting, skills, talents, capabilities and abilities. Any one of the skills, talents, abilities and capabilities discovered and nurtured can bring out star in any child at any age.

As parents, we are not even expected to help them discover 3 or 4 out of 600 – 700 of these skills and talents. We are to just help them discover only one and nurture it. That is all it takes to raise a star child!

Another important reality I will like to call your attention to is the fact that no two children are same. This is one reason you must not compare one child to another. They may have come to this world the same day as a twin but they are distinctive being with different inner deposits- gifting, talents, abilities and capabilities.

Everything is created to solve a problem. Your Child’s deposits – gifting, talents, abilities and capabilities determine his or her reason for existence. The problem your child is created to solve is your child’s assignment in this world and his place of fulfillment in life. Any other thing will never give him fulfillment and true happiness.

You don’t decide it; his or her maker has already done that, your own responsibility as a parent is to help him or her discover it as soon as possible in life so that he can begin to walk in his calling.

Serena Williams is the best female long tennis player in the world today. Serena’s parents were the brain behind her success.

Her father, Richard Williams took time to study his children; he discovered Serena and her sister Venus have exceptional physical abilities.

The father was determined to nurture these abilities in these children. Even though, they were going to school, academic success became secondary to the father, he was more interested in his daughters success in tennis game.

Do you know what the man did? He went out and gathered books and instructional videos on how to play the game.

At the age of 3, their father was already taking Serena and his sister through a rigor of daily two hours of practice. He was trying to teach them the importance of hard work to success.

The rest is history today. At the age of 18 years, Serena Williams became the world’s best. All thanks to their father who took active part in the success of her girls.

I am sure many people who are frustrated and suffering today would have been resoundingly successful with a kind of father like Serena’s father.

Are you in the class of Serena’s father? Are you trying to discover and nurture your children’s potentials? Let me tell you something, studying our children is as important as studying God because we are going to be accountable for these children.

How can you discover who they are?

Study Them

There are clues that will always give you an idea of who your child is. All you need is to pay attention to study them very well.

There are books on parenting out there that address this topic, go for them. If you are not informed, you will be deformed.

Their Personality Traits May Give You Clues

From my studies, I have observed that their personality traits can give clues about who they are. Personality is given to us to enable us function in our calling effectively.

  • If your child is shy, she may be a counselor.
  • If your child loves to talk, your child may be a motivator, a sales man or a teacher. Don’t discourage him or her from talking, see how you can nurture and shape this ability in him or her.
  • If your child likes to think she may be a researcher. Go for knowledge on how to nurture this gifting in her.
  • If your child is passionate or agitated over injustice, your child may end up being a lawyer. See how you can help him shape this raw talent in him.
  • If your child loves to play any game, don’t discourage him or her rather support and see how you can give form to his passion and love.
  • If your child hates to see people in pain, he may be a minister of God.
  • If you study them well enough, you will have clues about who they are. What does your child love? What does he hate?

You will need to analyze each of your children one by one in the face of the following;

  • What are their strengths?
  • What are their weaknesses?
  • What opportunities are opened to them based on their strengths?
  • What threats do they face if their weaknesses are not dealt with?

When you do this, you will be able to come up with a lot of information that will give you clues about your child.

Case Study

Let me share my daughter’s case with you. Everyone sees my daughter’s talking ability as a minus for her. They call her talkative. But when I analyzed her, I discovered her calling is in talking.

Talking and interacting with others come natural for her. She is extremely pleasant to be with.

I remember I had to go to her school to tell her teacher not to discourage her from talking. She should be left to express herself, give her points or crack jokes.

For me, her school performance has become secondary. Improving in her talking ability has become our (her mum and I) primary concern.

We don’t want her to just be talking for talking sake; we want her to become another Brain Tracy our time. I am determined to inculcate in her all she needs to be a world class speaker. This is how to give their strengths shapes.

I have found out the key result areas she must be good at as a speaker and communicator. We have established the school courses she must take seriously in order for her to become a great speaker and we are ready to take her through the process.

My daughter is just 8 (2015) she reads 2 books per week. She memorizes 10 quotations that appeal to her per week. She will tell you stories of great people that have lived in the past like Churchill, MKO Abiola, Awolowo, etc.

She really loves biography books. She is not struggling to do all these, they come natural for her. That is what confirms to me that we have correctly diagnosed her.

We hope she will go to university to go and pursue a course that will help her to be a better communicator.

But if she grows up and she chooses to be something totally different from what we have identified for her? Of course that is no issue at all. We know she has over 600 stuffs inside of her. We will support her in her pursuit. I know success principles are universal. She will succeed in anything she ventures into because in the process of nurturing what we have initially identified as her strength, we have inculcated in her all she needs to be a success – hard work, character, emotional intelligence etc.

There you have the process. Begin your investigation today and analysis to unveil and discover your child’s area of calling.

To your success

This article is an eye opener, thank you. Glad I came across it as my boy has been a major cause of worry to me. He will be 5 in June, he has a care free attitude towards his studies. In short, he is lazy academically, very hyper active and playful but loves drumming, riding bicycle and swimming.
